Abstract

The article analyzes the results of a survey conducted to determine teachers’ perceptions of the modern textbook. The survey showed that the textbook remains the main teaching tool for teachers, primarily as a source of systematized information and a means of developing students’ thinking. At the same time, the educational and communicative functions are insufficiently implemented. Among the identified problems are content overload, outdated information, and a lack of tasks that foster motivation and independence. Teachers emphasize the need to modernize textbooks, integrate digital resources, and create engaging, multi-level tasks. The most balanced textbooks, according to respondents, are those designed for primary school, while textbooks for middle and high school require substantial improvement. In teachers’ view, the ideal textbook should be interactive, flexible, technologically supported, and aimed at students’ development.
