Abstract
This publication presents a comprehensive analysis of the current state of integration of artificial intelligence (AI) tools into educational research and identifies the main areas of their application. The analysis allows us to draw the following conclusions. The integration of AI tools into educational research is an objective process that aligns with global trends in the digital transformation of science and education. AI is becoming not merely a supporting tool, but a “cognitive partner” to the researcher, capable of transforming the methodology and practice of educational research. The main areas of AI application in educational research include the automation of data collection and analysis, support for academic writing, personalization of the research experience, and assistance in qualitative research. Large language models capable of complex cognitive operations play a special role. A key condition for the effective integration of AI is finding the optimal balance between automation and human judgment, identifying “bottlenecks” of human intervention where the researcher’s contextual, ethical, and reflective expertise is indispensable. The integration of AI is accompanied by serious challenges—ethical issues, the threat to the researcher’s cognitive autonomy, questions regarding the validity of results, technological inequality, and insufficient integration with pedagogical theory. This highlights the need to develop clear policies, standards, and ethical frameworks for the use of AI.
