Abstract

The challenges of Russia's full-scale aggression against Ukraine, European integration processes, the need to update the content of education by including relevant modern knowledge, the use of digital technologies - all this requires a systematic approach to one of the tools for improving the quality of education and science - research integrity. Research integrity is a key requirement of the modern knowledge society. It ensures trust in scientific results, promotes the responsibility of researchers and institutions, and also creates conditions for the sustainable development of science. Adherence to the principles of research integrity - such as honesty, objectivity, transparency, respect for authorship and proper data management - is the basis for effective scientific activity and high-quality education based on modern scientific research. The article substantiates the need to develop and implement a research integrity assessment system. It is found out that in Ukraine, a reform of the research assessment system has been launched, which involves the certification of scientific institutions for the effectiveness of scientific activity, but the updated methodology does not contain qualitative indicators for assessing research integrity. It is substantiated that the developed system of external monitoring, reporting and support for the culture of integrity in the United Kingdom allows using the positive experience of the leading country in Ukraine. It is generalized: elements of the British system (for example, annual reporting, institutional policies, training, independent research integrity offices) can be adapted in Ukrainian universities and scientific institutions.
