Abstract

The article presents a descriptive methodology for using artificial intelligence services to generate images for the professional development of teachers. An analysis of scientific research has shown that scientists widely study the problem of using artificial intelligence (AI) in education. In particular, there are works on selecting AI services and using and describing individual services to generate images. It was found that there are not enough methods for using AI services. The presented methodology is not focused on using specific AI services for generating images; it is general for teachers of any subject. The article shows two main ways of using services for generating images: educational activities, professional orientation, and sports activities for lessons (creation of didactic material). The study considers the generalized structure of the lesson (without specifying the type) and suggests ways to use the generated images at each stage. The proposed methods (explanation, demonstration, practical work, project work, illustration, problem-solving, quests, development of analysis skills), forms (lesson, seminar, workshop, independent work), and teaching aids (devices on which the generated image can be reproduced, AI services, as well as traditional ones: textbooks, notebooks, blackboard, visual aids), which are most appropriate to use together with images generated by AI services. During the study, free AI services were selected for image generation: OpenArt, Gemini, Stable Diffusion 3.5, AutoDraw, Ideogram 2.0, FLUX.1, DALL·E 3, Krea.ai, Bing Image Creator. The proposed sequence of steps for using AI services for image generation, a specific algorithm of teacher actions, is presented. Although the proposed methodology is presented descriptively (the components are not specified), the classical structure is followed. It is recommended that teachers pay attention to the generation of new images for the development of their didactic materials because images located on the Internet are protected by copyright.
