Abstract

The activity of the Institute of Higher Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, one of the leading research institutions, studying the prospects of higher education development in Ukraine, the optimal ways of its integration into the European and world educational and scientific area are highlighted. The research activity of the Institute is aimed at the analysis and generalisation of world achievements in the field of higher education and the implementation of research findings in order to improve domestic higher education. The expert activity of the Institute is ensured through the researchers’ active participation in the National Higher Education Reform Experts team; working groups, accreditation commission, the Sector of Higher Education of the Scientific and Methodical Council, Scientific and Methodical Commissions of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine; expert groups and branch expert council of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance (NAQA); expert group to evaluate the effectiveness of research institutions in the scientific field of socio-humanitarian sciences. The Institute implements educational and scientific programs for the preparation of higher education students of the third (educational and scientific) level “Politicy and Leadership in Higher Education” and “Teaching and Learning in Higher Education” in the field “01 Education / Pedagogy” in 011 “Educational, Pedagogical Sciences”, accredited by the NAQA with the definition of “exemplary”. The international activity of the Institute promotes the use of research findings for the development of the higher education system of Ukraine as well as the institutional potential of higher education institutions. The strategic goals of the Institute are the following: definition and substantiation of the development guidelines for Ukrainian universities in the context of European integration; strengthening the institutional capacity of Ukrainian universities, developing their leadership potential; creation of leaders of change in higher education in Ukraine network; development of a national platform of best practices of Ukrainian universities.
