Abstract

This publication analyzes the UNESCO Recommendations on Open Science and the perspectives of foreign and domestic scholars regarding the new additional responsibilities demanded by the concept of Open Science. To benefit from Open Science advantages, scholars must engage in active collaboration for resource and data exchange. It is emphasized that increasing awareness and developing competencies in Open Science are important components of the digital transformation of science and education. The formation of Open Science competencies contributes to improving the quality of the educational process, scientific research, innovation development, and enhancing accessibility of scientific information for all stakeholders. It is crucial to conduct specialized training, seminars, and conferences on implementing Open Science principles and innovations in Ukraine. Such events will facilitate: finding ways to address urgent issues of uninterrupted access to research infrastructure; free access to research results; accelerating the integration of Ukrainian science into the European Research Area, etc. Also, organizing and conducting specially designed training for acquiring or developing competencies in Open Science for various target groups is relevant: researchers, university professors, PhD students, teachers, and students. Currently, the scientific community is facing the opportunities and challenges posed by digital transformation. Open science has become a certain philosophy and a new methodology for conducting scientific research and disseminating obtained results. The key idea of Open Science is to broaden access to scientific data and publications and to collaboratively use the materials obtained, not just for a limited group of scientists. This directly impacts the improvement of the quality of scientific research and enhances their transparency.
