Abstract
The article pinpoints and describes the requirements for the process of functioning of the distance learning system at higher military educational institutions. It has been summarized that in the recent decades, distance learning (DL) has become a global phenomenon of educational and informational culture, significantly making an impact on the nature of education in many countries of the world, where an intensive development of the range of educational services using distance-learning technologies has been happening. It has been concluded that the use of distance-learning technologies allows us to respond quickly, adequately and flexibly to the needs of society. It also helps to provide a wide access to obtaining education, in particular for those who, for a number of reasons (living in remote areas, physical disabilities, etc.), consider traditional forms of education unacceptable, and to solve the problem of significant expansion of the population groups with higher and additional vocational education and training. It has been determined that the main task of the military education system is to train an officer of an appropriate level and profile, to be competent and responsible, the one who has a great command of their profession and knows their way around other related fields, and is ready for effective service with troops in the specialty. It has been established that one of the requirements for the functioning of higher military educational institutions in the period of total informatization of education is the use of distance learning. The analysis of scientific literature and existing material and technical resources at higher military educational institutions has made it possible to single out specific requirements for creating an electronic educational and informational environment of higher military educational institutions. Within this environment, the system of distance learning of officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will function, which allows for, namely, systematic application of informational technologies, accessibility and openness, multi-functionality, individualization, modularity and adaptability, cost-effectiveness, competitiveness, focus on international standards, multilingualism and interactivity.
