Abstract
The section discusses the characteristics of traditional and developmental education, in particular, the humanistic type of developmental education is explored. The obtained correlations of the characteristics of positive and negative interaction in the teacher-student system are analyzed. Both positive and negative influences on the development of the personal and cognitive spheres of students have been empirically proven, depending on the inclination of the teacher and the student to the type of interaction. It was revealed that negative interaction enhances the negative qualities of the student's personality: negative self-esteem, the strength of the «I», which generally hinders the student's personal development and self-development. But for a capable student, for his creative and intellectual abilities, which are of a deeper nature, the negative interaction between teacher and student only increases their development: the student pays a significant psychological price for this and how the personality becomes disoriented and becomes bifurcated. It is argued that the tendency towards negative interaction in the «teacher-student» system blocks the student's self-development. On the other hand, according to our data, the picture of the development of the student's personality and cognitive sphere with positive interaction is much better and more harmonious: it contributes not only to the formation and development of the student's cognitive activity, but is also a constructive moment in the self-development of the student's personality, namely, the development of his morality, constructive self-determination, positive self-realization, creative manifestations and abilities.
