Abstract
The article highlights the creative developments of the scientists of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine on spiritual and moral education of children and youth in Ukraine. In particular, it focuses on the work of members of the Department of General Pedagogy and Philosophy of Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine. The scientific approaches of the scientists to spiritual and moral education have been described: philosophical, psychological and pedagogical; and their content has been revealed, namely: a new philosophy of spiritual and moral education of children and youth: the philosophy of anthropocentrism; humanization of education, culturological and axiological approaches to the process of spiritual education; formation of a value-based worldview as a leading factor in the formation and development of a personality, characterized by awareness of the unity of Being and determines the striving of a personality to improvement of his or her inner and outer world, directs him or her to the realization of the ideals of Beauty, Goodness and Truth in life (I. Bekh, I. Zyazyun, V. Kremen, O. Sukhomlynska, G. Filipchuk and others); spirituality, which is the most important human quality (psychological approach), and it is seen as a multidimensional system, the components of which are the formation in the structure of consciousness and self-consciousness of a personality, in the form of value orientations reflect its most pressing needs, interests, views, attitudes to others, to oneself, which have become subjectively significant regulators of the personality’s activity (M. Boryshevsky, O. Kyrychuk, G. Kostyuk, S. Maksymenko, E. Pomitkin, etc.); formation of value-based orientations in the spiritual and moral education of children and youth (pedagogical approach): the educational institution, its educational system should become a center of creativity where a socially and spiritually creative personality is developed, who is able to enrich his or her own intellectual, cultural, emotional potential and create a holistic humane world; the Child is recognized as the highest value (V. Balukh, I. Bekh, A. Boyko, S. Sysoeva, O. Sukhomlynska, G. Trotsko, V. Khairulina, etc.). The article presents a recommended bibliographic list of selected works by the scientists of the Department of General Pedagogy and Philosophy of Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine on the problems of spiritual and moral education of children and youth to meet the information needs of educators and the public.
