Abstract
The main aspects of scientific and pedagogical achievements of O. P. Rudnytska are analyzed in the article. The main focus is on highlighting the innovative ideas of scientific research of a prominent Ukrainian scientist. The central scientific idea and priority directions of the school of the theory of art education, which was founded by Professor O. P. Rudnytska, are considered. The semantic characteristic of the concept of "art education" is given and its scientific essence is revealed. The list of principles proposed by O. P. Rudnytska on which art education is based is given: the principle of completion of educational action by upbringing in pedagogical influence, the principle of diversification of types and forms of activity of pupils in the organization of pedagogical interaction, the principle of dependence of development of personal qualities on created pedagogical situations, the principle of emotional saturation of the educational process, the principle of motivation for creative self-expression. The characteristic features of art education that distinguish it from other branches of education and upbringing are highlighted. It is revealed that O. P. Rudnytska in her scientific works substantiated methodological and theoretical bases of art education, revealed methodical bases of teaching disciplines of art and aesthetic cycle, outlined priority directions of further improvement of art education, revealed its interrelation with bases of general pedagogy; first in music pedagogy, O. P. Rudnytska generalized and scientifically substantiated possible approaches to the organization and conduct of research on the history and theory of music education, theory and methods of teaching music. The influence of musical perception on the formation of personal qualities and professional skills of the future teacher is shown; the emphasis is on the role of the teacher of art disciplines in the educational process. It is proved that the prospects of humanization of education and affirmation of new ideals of development of spiritual culture of the subject of study are connected with art. The urgency and significance of O. P. Rudnytska's creative heritage in the modern pedagogical and scientific space are emphasized.
