Abstract

As expected, the total digitalization of all spheres of life has not bypassed education and science, which is not surprising, because it is usually teachers and scientists who lead this area. The maximum opportunities for access to digital content have led to an increase in publishing activity of research and teaching staff and, as a consequence, the need to organize and evaluate the demand for their work. For this purpose, scientific and metric databases have been developed. The most used databases in Ukraine are Google Scholar and ORCID. Each of them has its own characteristics. The purpose of this study is to characterize these systems. Google Scholar or Google Academy is both a scientometric database and a search engine at the same time. The motto of Google Scholar - "stand on the shoulders of the Titans", the date of creation - 2004. In the user profile in Google Scholar, in addition to personal data - last name, first name, patronymic, place of work, you can specify the area of ​​interest - this allows you to quickly search for users working on the same issue.
