Abstract
The article reveals the ideas of Maria Montessori’s pedagogy in the context of modern educational space. The life and creative way of the teacher is characterized. The author’s pedagogical experience is presented. Its concept of upbringing is illustrated, in which the child is recognized as the highest value of pedagogical activity, and the interests of the developing personality are treated as priority educational goals. It is emphasized that Maria Montessori’s pedagogy focuses on the needs, abilities and characteristics of each child in particular and is aimed at obtaining the child’s natural joy of learning. Ukrainian pedagogy agrees with this statement of the teacher. These are the ideas of Vasyl Sukhomlynskyi, Konstantin Ushinskyi, Sofia Rusova, etc. Maria Montessori’s pedagogical method is singled out, which is the basis of her pedagogical teaching and accumulates three main components: child-centeredness, individual approach to the child and the idea of free choice. It is emphasized that the main principles of Montessori education: creating an educational and developmental environment, connection with nature, constant study of the child’s personality in activity, education of positive feelings, self-worth of the child, self-knowledge, self-discipline, self-organization, etc. are based on ideas “free education” and are reflected in the basic tenets of the new Ukrainian school. It is proved the appeal of scientists and practitioners to Maria Montessori’s pedagogical ideas is connected with the demand in Ukrainian society for the education of a person who seeks to develop harmoniously, realize himself and his way, be able to make free and correct choices, be responsible for this choice and future.
