Abstract
According to the research theme, modern approaches to assessing the level of competency formation as a result of the educational process in the modern school were analyzed. An experimental study was conducted on the use of test technologies for assessing the level of the formation of subject competence - the ability of nine-year-olds to apply biological knowledge and skills in practice. According to the research results: the theoretical model of the structure of the subject biological competence was developed; the criteria for evaluating the level of formation of the subject competence are formulated; Diagnostic tools for assessing the ability of students to use in practice acquired knowledge and skills in biology have been developed and tested.
