Abstract
The term "process" is essential in the study of development. The enrichment of studies in this direction occurs, inter alia, by improving the theoretical and methodological tools which include formal methods of describing development processes. It is noted that the interpretations of process in engineering and natural sciences are difficult to apply in psychology; the proposed method ofset-theoretic descriptions of cultural processes can be more acceptable for psychological science. According to this method, cultural processes can be represented as changes occurring at various time intervals in algebraic structures which components are culture’s modi. The article describes the procedure of applying the method. According tothe procedure the types and sequences of processes with mental components (modi) are described. Based on the method variants of variability of mental modi can become a useful theoretical and methodological tool for development studies in psychological sciences.
