Abstract

The thesis examines one of the directions of O. Ya. Savchenko's research - the development of the emotional intelligence of elementary school students, which was considered by the scientist in the theoretical and practical plane. Emphasis is placed on the ideas of Savchenko, who believed that the task of elementary school in the context of solving the problem of developing emotional intelligence is primarily to create conditions for the child to be aware of his emotions and feelings, express emotional reflections adequate to the theme and idea of the work, establish the connection between emotions and actions, understand the consequences of various emotional reactions, self-assessment of one's own emotions. It is these areas of emotional intelligence development that are actualized in her textbooks for primary school. It was concluded that the system of tasks and questions in Savchenko's textbooks is one of the manifestations of her attention to the child's inner world, respect for her personality. The directions and forms of development of the emotional intelligence of younger schoolchildren proposed by her are extremely important for the further acceptance of the idea of child-centrism in the practice of the new Ukrainian school, for the effective implementation of personal and activity approaches to the education of students in primary school, for the development and implementation of conceptual foundations for the creation of new, modern textbooks taking into account the task of developing the emotional intelligence of schoolchildren.
