Abstract
The influence of cultures on the individual is seen as the projection of a societies culture on the individual. Article focuses on the theory of "Culture and Personality" as a concept in which the category of "basic personality" is developed thoroughly (A.Kardiner). The theory of "Culture and Personality" in cultural-anthropology has evolved from the concept of "unlimited configurations of cultures" to the concept of culture with the individual characteristics (R.Benedikt). The concept of "basic personality" refers to the basic personality structure that is formed by the given culture in order to perform the function of human adaptation to the fundamental realities of life in a particular culture. The concept of "modal personality" (R.Linton) means the greatest prevalence of personality types in the particular culture and is determined by the features that are most common in adult members of the society. They are studied by statistical methods (tests). The most popular methods of empirical analysis of "basic" and "modal" personalities are: the method of “semantic differential” Ch.Osguda, "Personality Questionnaire by Eysenck" five-factors model of personality "Big Five".
