Abstract

The article contains results of theoretical and empirical inquiries of socio-psychological and psychoanalytical essence of the “corruption” (‘bribery and bribetaking’) phenomenon. Elicited are the characteristics of co-dependence in the relationship between ‘the one who bribes’ (Subject 1) and ‘the one who is bribed’ (Subject 2). Based upon survey data and group discussion data, analysed is psychological nature of the phenomenon in which a person is tempted into corruption. Raised is the question of the ‘defensive indifference mentality,’ which normalises specific pathological culture of corruption in group relations.
