Abstract
The article deals with the problem of lesson design (modelling) for the elective course in English “Welcome to Ukraine» for high-school students. The main stages of lesson design (modelling) are pointed and their main components have been highlighted in the context of competence approach implementation for foreign language education in high chool. Structural and compositional lesson model which has six basic elements of foreign lesson content design (modelling): organisation,problematic, content, technological, reflaction and analitic are represented and given accoarding to their role place in educational prosses. Ways of model introduction and its usage in high school practice have been given. It consists of three consecutive elements: 1) identification of the basic components of the model; 2) identification of members of educational prosses – their organization and interaction; 3) the structural and compositional model creation, which includes six basic components that determine the activity of the teacher, together with students. Each stage of lesson design has been illustrated with examples. The represented model of a lesson design for elective course in a foreign language is not universal.
