Abstract
The author analyzes the current state of skilled workers training for various branches of Ukraine’s economy; differences in the ratio concerning the number of universities’ and vocational schools’ graduates are considered. Besides, the article highlights changes that take place on the domestic labor market, namely the slowdown of production at domestic plants, reducing the need for workers in almost all economic activities, growth of tendency to non-standard employment and migration of the country’s skilled labor potential etc. The article reveals the need for effective use of scientific and technological achievements, including the results of basic and applied research as regards vocational education and training issues. Major attention is focused on scientific studies as to blue-collar career guidance for young people, choosing and making a professional career; creation of occupational and educational standards based on modular and competence approach; development of new blue-collar occupations including integrated (aggregated) ones; vocational trend content for general training of vocational schools students; advance of professional-and-pedagogical skills of educational staff members, improvement of their readiness to implement self-developmental and information-communications technologies, electronic teaching aids, information-analytical systems for vocational education and training control.
