Abstract

The article examines the specifics of training oriented on editors of semantic web-based encyclopedic resources to utilize generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) technologies for content entry, article preparation, and collaboration with authors. The relevance of the study is driven by the need to optimize the population of the "Ukrainian Electronic Encyclopedia of Education" (UEEE) and integrate GenAI into this process. The authors analyze the curriculum of a distance learning course organized by the Institute for Digitalization of Education of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The training coirce is designed to enhance the digital competence of researchers acting as editors for the UEEE.Special attention is given to the practical application of large language models, such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot, to automate semantic markup on MediaWiki and Semantic MediaWiki platforms. The study details the organization of practical sessions aimed at moving beyond theoretical knowledge to the development of hands-on skills in AI-assisted semantic markup. It describes methods for metadata generation, keyword extraction, linguistic editing, and the creation of multimedia content for various types of encyclopedic entries. The findings prove that GenAI enables technical editors to shift from routine text processing to strategic knowledge management and scientific quality verification. The study substantiates the role of distance training as an essential toolfor adapting scientists to the rapid digital transformation of education and science.
