Abstract

The monograph "Education in the face of civilizational and military threats: Polish-ukrainian experiences in times of peace and war" aims to present a multifaceted perspective on the contemporary challenges facing education and the ways in which they can be addressed. This publication is the result of collaboration between scholars from Poland and Ukraine who, drawing on diverse fields of knowledge and their own research experience, examine the role of education in the context of dynamic social change, crises, and armed conflicts. The authors of individual chapters explore both the systemic conditions that shape the functioning of education and the experiences of teachers, pupils, students, and academic communities. Particular attention is paid to such issues as safety in the educational environment, the institutional resilience of schools and universities, educational leadership, psychological support for participants in the educational process, patriotic education, the development of intercultural competences, and the preservation of national identity. Other important topics for discussion include the impact of war on the quality of education, the problem of learning losses, the need to rebuild human capital, and the development of modern models for supporting pupils and students in times of crisis.
