Abstract

Gifted students, through their actions aimed at self-development, constantly go beyond the survival-oriented tasks of the current situation, leading to a lack of understanding—and often rejection—of their position by those around them. Consequently, there is a risk of a conflict of values and social pressure from the majority on the minority, as a result of which students may lose the value foundation for developing their own giftedness. Assertive interaction, aimed at defending one’s own life values, can significantly contribute to resolving this problem. When considering assertive interaction among gifted individuals, it is important to focus on those personal values related to the self-development of giftedness. These values are characterized by distinct differences in the areas of social interaction, the self-development of abilities, and personal identity. These groups of personal values are the most significant for gifted individuals, as they play a leading role in the structure of their personal identity. Developing the psychological foundations for the assertive defense of these value groups is a separate and important task that cannot be reduced solely to communication techniques and strategies. At the heart of genuine assertive interaction between gifted students and those who are not focused on developing their abilities and giftedness lies mutual appreciation of achievements and mutual personal recognition.
