Abstract
The article provides an analytical review of the scientific achievements of Ukrainian scientists on the genesis and evolution of open education. The main approaches to understanding the historical origins of open education, stages of formation and development in the Ukrainian scientific discourse are revealed. The works of researchers devoted to the historical, philosophical and methodological, technological, infrastructural, comparative and andragogical aspects of open education are analyzed. It is established that the development of the concept of open education in Ukraine took place under the influence of global processes of democratization of knowledge, digitalization, the spread of open access to scientific information and European educational initiatives. The relationship between the Open Access movement, the development of open educational resources, cloud technologies and the formation of a modern open educational environment is highlighted. It is shown that Ukrainian scientific thought has evolved from the understanding of individual technological tools to the formation of a holistic vision of open education as a socio-cultural and pedagogical paradigm, focused on ensuring equal access to quality education and implementing the concept of lifelong learning. The leading trends in the development of open adult education, postgraduate pedagogical education and open educational systems in the context of modern social challenges are identified. The prospects for further research related to the development of regulatory, scientific, methodological and technological support for open education in Ukraine are substantiated.
