Abstract

The study summarizes the results of a comprehensive analysis of the phenomena of academic culture and teachers’ transversal competence in the context of innovative development of education, open education, and open science. Global trends in the development of academic culture as a system of values, norms, and professional practices that ensure academic integrity, quality of education, openness of knowledge, and the development of academic communities are examined. Leading international approaches to defining transversal competences as universal twenty-first-century skills necessary for critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, digital literacy, and lifelong learning are outlined. The process of implementing global educational practices into Ukrainian legislation is analyzed, demonstrating the consistent regulatory establishment of the principles of academic integrity, digital competence, open science, teachers’ professional development, and the competence-based approach in higher education. It is determined that the Ukrainian legislative framework is being harmonized with European and international educational standards. The essence, specific characteristics, and structure of teachers’ academic culture are revealed as an integrative phenomenon encompassing value-and-ethical, cognitive-and-professional, communicative, research, innovation-and-digital, and reflective components. It is demonstrated that academic culture constitutes the foundation of teachers’ professional conduct and serves as a guarantee of the quality of educational and research activities. The content and structure of teachers’ transversal competence in the context of open education and open science are substantiated as a system of universal cognitive, communicative, social, digital, and reflective abilities that ensure professional mobility, adaptability, and effective performance in a dynamic educational environment. The interrelationship between academic culture and transversal competence is established as complementary components of teachers’ professional activity that contribute to the innovative development of education and the formation of a modern open educational and scientific environment.
