Abstract
The article presents a systematic analysis of encyclopedic web resources as a tool for supporting the educational process in the context of digitalization of education. The relevance of the study is due to the rapid spread of artificial intelligence technologies, the growth of unreliable information, and the need to develop critical thinking, information and digital literacy in students. Encyclopedic web resources (Wikipedia, Wikidata, specialized industry encyclopedias) are considered not only as sources of reference information, but also as an active educational environment that enables the transition from passive consumption of knowledge to active participation in its creation. Particular attention is paid to the didactic functions of such resources: hypertextuality, multimedia, dynamic content, and interactive search. The international experience of integrating Wikipedia and Wikidata into educational programs is analyzed using the example of a ten-year study by Tel Aviv University, which showed the creation of over 2,000 new articles, editing of 7,000 existing ones, and a total audience of 75 million views. The key advantages of this approach are identified: the formation of data skills, the development of critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and academic integrity. It is especially emphasized that in the context of the development of generative artificial intelligence (AI), the ability to verify information and understand the mechanisms of knowledge creation become critically important. The Ukrainian experience is highlighted, in particular the “Wikipedia for Schools” competition (230 articles were created and improved), which demonstrates the resilience of the educational community even in wartime conditions. The role of the Electronic Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the professional journal “Information Technologies and Learning Tools” and the “Ukrainian Electronic Encyclopedia of Education”, which is currently being developed by specialists of the Institute for Digitalization of Education of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine as a web-based publication to support, unify and popularize the conceptual and terminological apparatus of pedagogy and psychology, is revealed. The conclusions emphasize that encyclopedic web resources are a powerful means of intensifying the educational process, an indispensable component of the modern educational ecosystem. Prospects for further research are outlined: integration with learning management systems (LMS), the use of semantic technologies (JSON-LD, RDF) and the formation of skills for working with structured data in the context of artificial intelligence.
