Abstract
This article presents a comprehensive scientific and theoretical analysis of mobile learning (m-learning) as one of the leading drivers of the digital transformation of the modern educational ecosystem of general secondary education institutions. The relevance of the study stems from the rapid processes of digitalisation in society, which are radically transforming all spheres of human activity, including education. The paper argues that mobile devices – smartphones, tablets, e-readers and other portable gadgets – are gradually transforming from auxiliary means of communication into a fully-fledged educational environment capable of providing continuous access to learning resources, interactive platforms and digital services. It is emphasised that mobile learning forms a new educational continuum, within which the traditional roles of the learner and the teacher are being redefined, the structure of the learning process is changing, and the focus on the individual educational needs of learners is intensifying. The main approaches to interpreting the essence of mobile learning in contemporary academic discourse are analysed. The paper emphasises that mobile learning creates the conditions for overcoming barriers to access to education, particularly for vulnerable groups of learners and those with special educational needs. Thanks to mobile devices, educational content becomes accessible anytime and anywhere, which helps to put the principles of inclusivity and continuity in education into practice. At the same time, the importance of ensuring information security, adherence to ethical standards and the principles of academic integrity in the use of mobile technologies is emphasised. The issue of organising mobile learning in the context of the modern school is considered separately. It is established that the effective implementation of m-learning involves the integration of mobile technologies into blended learning, the combination of traditional and digital forms of educational activity, as well as the development of appropriate teaching and learning materials. It has been demonstrated that mobile learning is not merely a technological innovation, but also a key factor in the transformation of the pedagogical paradigm. It facilitates the transition from a traditional knowledge-based model of education to a competence-based one, focused on the development of critical thinking, creativity, communication skills and the ability to learn independently. In this context, mobile technologies serve as a tool for developing the key competences of the 21st century.
