Abstract

The article addresses the complex problem of the further development of a semantically structured encyclopedia on educational topics, which already operates as a working version with extensive functionality, semanticized relations, and a significant number of articles, but requires systematic methodological and technological improvement. The main task is not only the continuous expansion of the corpus with new articles, but primarily the improvement of the semantic structure quality, the unification of the term interpretation, the reproducibility of information provenance ensuring, the workflow optimization and the creation of conditions for resource integration with other educational and scientific systems. This task is multidimensional and covers issues related to the formalization of the knowledge model, methods for the automated creation of semantic markup, quality control procedures, staff training, and engineering solutions aimed at ensuring productivity and interoperability. The study substantiates the expediency of the ecosystem approach to modeling encyclopedic information systems: it represents the portal not only as a knowledge repository but also as a dynamic environment of interaction between technological, social, organizational, and regulatory components. We propose an ontological model of the ecosystem of an educational encyclopedic wiki portal based on this paradigm that defines the structure of the domain concepts, their properties, and the semantic relations between them. Particular attention is paid to the formalization of typical information objects and the use of semantic wiki templates as a tool for the unified representation of encyclopedic content and for ensuring its machine interpretability. The role of the Semantic MediaWiki technological platform in the creation of semantically structured encyclopedic resources is analyzed, and the practical experience of developing the Ukrainian Electronic Encyclopedia of Education is described. The obtained results can be used in the development and improvement of semantically oriented educational information systems, encyclopedic portals, and digital knowledge platforms, as well as in research related to the application of ontological modeling and artificial intelligence in the field of education.
