Abstract
The integration orientation of Ukraine's state policy determines the demand for specialists who are capable and ready to engage in effective intercultural communication and professional activity in a multicultural environment. Such a demand stimulates the need to develop intercultural competence in higher education students. Digitization creates significant advantages for the high-quality preparation of higher education students for life in a digital society and for developing a set of competences that ensure their competitiveness in the labor market. One such competence is intercultural competence, which ensures that graduates of higher educational institutions are prepared for life in a multicultural environment and manifests itself in a tolerant attitude towards representatives of other cultures, the ability to overcome cultural stereotypes, and skills for effective intercultural interaction. The article provides a theoretical analysis of the scientific work of contemporary Ukrainian and foreign scholars to examine the impact of digitalization on the development of intercultural competence in higher education institutions. This analysis is necessary because there is no systematic study of the identified problem. The research shows that the use of digital technologies (social networks, digital platforms for virtual communication, digital platforms for creating interactive presentations and animated videos, artificial intelligence tools (including ChatGPT), technologies of virtual and augmented reality, digital resources and digital libraries) in the educational process contributes to the effective formation of intercultural competence among higher education students.
