Abstract

Education and ecology are closely interconnected today, since the environmental consciousness of future generations is formed through the education system. The article examines the formation of environmental competence of students of general education institutions, in particular in computer science lessons, as a means of conscious decision-making regarding the preservation of nature and understanding the consequences of one's actions for the environment. The stages of the formation of environmental competence, which includes the development of knowledge, practical skills and a value-based attitude towards nature, are analyzed. Based on the analysis of scientific sources, approaches to understanding the essence of students' environmental competence are clarified and it is indicated that the cross-cutting line of developing environmental competence skills is found in model computer science curricula. The article focuses on the formation of practical environmental skills in the process of studying computer science, which is both a subject of technological orientation and an interdisciplinary environment for the implementation of projects close to real life. The article provides examples of creating a functioning ecosystem based on the concept of a smart home and an analysis of the dependence of the level of asthma incidence on the concentration of carbon monoxide. The integrated tasks performed allowed students to generalize knowledge, form practical skills, value attitudes towards the environment and emotional awareness of the importance of environmental responsibility, and their implementation contributes to the development of information and analytical skills, critical thinking and the formation of environmental responsibility. It is summarized that integrated projects demonstrate the potential of computer science as a tool for critical understanding of real data and decision-making in the field of sustainable development. The conducted questionnaire of students confirmed the positive dynamics of the levels of formation of environmental competence after the implementation of integrated projects in computer science lessons. The article demonstrates the practical effectiveness of combining digital technologies and environmental education for the formation of a competent and responsible personality.
