Abstract

The theoretical foundations and pedagogical potential of roleplaying technology in the system of developing professional competence of instructors in agricultural professional pre-higher education are examined. The ontological nature of play as a “magic circle” is revealed; the distinctions between the states of play and game, the mechanisms of transgression between them, as well as the phenomena of immersion, are analyzed. Adapted examples of using role-playing games to foster critical thinking, reflection, communicative, and managerial competencies of instructors in agricultural disciplines are proposed.
