Abstract
The article explores the specific features of the family environment that influence the resilience of primary school children during wartime. Military events disrupt the stability of the family system and complicate parent–child relationships, which constitute the fundamental basis for the development of resilience in children. The paper analyzes wartime stressors such as loss, family separation, changes in family roles, increased anxiety, and children’s emotional instability. An empirical study conducted among first-grade students of a private Kyiv lyceum using the “Kinetic Family Drawing” method revealed a high prevalence of communication difficulties with parents and elevated emotional tension within families. Three types of family environments were identified—favorable, moderately problematic, and unfavorable—and their impact on emotional well-being, adaptation, and coping strategies of primary school children was examined. The study concludes that the quality of family relationships is a key determinant of children’s resilience in wartime, while supportive, warm, and trusting interactions significantly enhance their psychological stability.
