Abstract
The article identifies the tools of the Scilit scientific materials search system for the development of digital competence of researchers and research and teaching staff. It has been shown that the use of the Scilit service develops the skills of quickly identifying the latest publications. Since Scilit is updated very quickly through the collection of Crossref data, the researcher acquires the ability to monitor new arrivals in their area of interest. It also develops the ability to synthesize information from different databases: Scilit can provide information that complements other sources, and the researcher learns to verify data, which develops critical thinking in the use of metrics, which is a useful skill. The service provides bibliographic lists (References and Citations), so the researcher gains the skill to quickly track the citation relationships of the number and frequency of citations of publications, which is similar to the Web of Science database, but is openly available. The researcher has the opportunity to create a global database based on open metadata Crossref, OpenCitations. Scilit, offering a free search service, also helps in making alternative decisions, as researchers and pedagogical staff are not limited to commercial tools but are ready to use innovative platforms, expanding the idea that a quality tool can be free. The institutional profile in the Scilit database is considered on the example of the page of the Institute of Digitalization of Education of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, which contains publications of the staff of the scientific institution, in particular, analytical information on open access works for the period 2015-2025. The existence and use of platforms such as Scilit not only solves the problem of information retrieval, but also fosters a culture of openness, flexibility, and critical attitude toward digital tools among researchers. The Scilit system can be recommended to domestic researchers and educators to track bibliometric indicators and build a positive image of their organizations.
