Abstract
Educators around the world are facing increasing challenges, one of which is the promotion of inclusive education for students with special educational needs. The ability to undertake such a challenging task requires a number of competencies that teachers do not acquire sufficiently during primary education, especially given the rapid expansion of knowledge in the field of teaching and learning of students with SEN. In this regard, teachers should regularly participate in continuous professional development activities. France, Germany, Denmark and Scotland are examples of good practice countries whose legislative provisions clearly define the professional development of teachers and offer a variety of curricula and methods.
