Abstract
The article addresses the urgent issue of exploring the potential of volunteer initiatives in supporting veterans and their families in the context of decentralization. The necessity of involving volunteers in the development of local level social services is substantiated, especially in communities that require additional human and organizational resources. The study analyzes the opportunities for utilizing volunteer resources in territorial communities to ensure an effective and multi-level system of social support for veterans. A set of methods was applied, including structural-logical analysis, content analysis of scholarly sources, as well as logical and categorical analysis. These approaches enabled the identification of key concepts, characterization of the functional dimensions of volunteer activity, and the examination of its implementation at the local, regional, and national levels. As a result, volunteering is considered an integral component of the social service system, capable not only of complementing but also significantly strengthening the institutional model of veteran support in communities. The novelty of the study lies in identifying the prospects for integrating volunteering into the system of social services for veterans at the community level. The article outlines the specific features of veteran support in communities, emphasizes the importance of functional differentiation in volunteer involvement, and presents the author’s vision of volunteering as an internal resource of the community that complements and reinforces the institutional model of social support for veterans and their families.
