Abstract
During wartime, mass media can exert a significant influence on the process of personality formation. They can contribute to psychological well-being, provide help and support, or, conversely, be directed at destroying personal integrity and harmony, creating a sense of danger, and deepening states of depression, hopelessness, and an individual's distrust towards the world and oneself. The modern citizen needs to be a conscious consumer of textual information. This section reviews the achievements of scholars regarding media creativity, media education, information security, and countering the negative influences of the information space. The importance for individuals to form themselves as a subject, rather than an object, of influence within the modern information space is substantiated. The results of a study investigating the features, conditions of development, and levels of self-confidence as a reader of received information are presented, based on a sample of first- and second-year students.
