Abstract
The article examines the activation of learning activity among students in grades 5–10 with intellectual disabilities during mathematics lessons. The psychological and pedagogical characteristics of this group are outlined, along with effective approaches to enhancing their cognitive engagement. The use of didactic games, visualization, interactive methods, and the «small steps» principle is emphasized. The importance of practical orientation in learning and the teacher’s role as a facilitator are highlighted. It is concluded that the activation of learning activity in students with intellectual disabilities requires an integrated approach combining content adaptation, differentiated instruction, and a motivating educational environment.
