Abstract
The practical guide "Methodical Foundations of Corrective Education for Students with Intellectual Disabilities: Ukrainian Language" is dedicated to the specifics of teaching Ukrainian to students with intellectual disabilities. The main goal of the subject "Ukrainian Language" is to develop in students with intellectual disabilities the key competencies, including: fluent command of the state language, a sufficient level of communication in various life situations, fostering a nationally conscious, spiritually rich language personality who will possess the necessary system of linguistic knowledge, skills, and abilities that they can practically apply in their future independent adult life. Teaching the Ukrainian language to senior students with intellectual disabilities has not only an educational but also a corrective and developmental purpose, aimed at developing communication skills, improving speech activity, correcting cognitive activity, and forming socially significant communication skills. The manual examines the theoretical foundations of corrective education, modern pedagogical approaches to developing speech competence, effective methods and techniques for implementing the corrective and developmental objectives of the subject.
