Abstract

The authors explore key aspects and challenges of implementing artificial intelligence (AI) in European Union education systems. They analyse EU strategies and policies, including the AI Act and ethical guidelines aimed at creating a human-centred and trustworthy AI ecosystem. Particular attention is paid to a three-dimensional approach to integrating AI into school education: “learning for AI”, “learning with AI” and “learning about AI”. The potential benefits of AI for personalising learning and optimising teaching are also highlighted, and significant risks such as algorithmic bias, data privacy issues, academic misconduct and digital exclusion are discussed. The significance of European experience for Ukraine in the context of its integration into the European educational space is considered separately, emphasising the need to develop a national strategy, increase AI literacy and ensure the ethical use of technologies.
