Abstract

The article examines the current transformations in the educational process, influenced by the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. It is noted that the spread of generative AI systems has led to significant changes in education, from initial bans due to concerns about academic dishonesty to a gradual recognition of the need for regulation and responsible use. A 2024 student survey highlights a shift from prohibition to guidelines for use: 75% of students employ AI to write texts, more than 70% use it for homework, and nearly half turn to it for searching academic sources. The paper outlines the opportunities enabled by AI, including personalized learning, adaptive platforms, automation of routine tasks, and expanded access to knowledge, as well as the challenges associated with ethics, confidentiality, and academic integrity. It emphasizes that UNESCO highlights the importance of a human-centered approach, the development of inclusive policies, and equal access to educational technologies. Attention is drawn to the lack of regulatory support, as only a small percentage of institutions worldwide have official documents on AI integration, making international and national recommendations particularly relevant. In Ukraine, a legal framework is gradually emerging, with conceptual documents adopted, action plans developed, and official recommendations for educators, students, and university administrators published. These guidelines focus on the practical application of AI tools for information retrieval, class preparation, enhancing written work, and language learning, while emphasizing principles of transparency, non-discrimination, and data protection. Particular attention is given to AI tool catalogs, which are online resources that systematize thousands of services by category and function, providing reviews, instructions, and labels regarding cost and safety. These catalogs help students quickly select digital assistants for tasks ranging from essay writing to programming or language practice, considering both quality and accessibility. The gradual creation and refinement of catalogs, combined with regulatory frameworks and educational policies, is seen as one of the key directions for ensuring high-quality, inclusive, and safe education in the AI era.
