Abstract

The article examines the theoretical aspects of psychological rehabilitation of people who have experienced traumatic events. The meaning of the concepts of «rehabilitation» and «psychological rehabilitation» is clarified. Today, the meaning of the concept is comprehensive assistance from specialists, aimed not only at compensating for disorders, but also at the return of the victim to society, his or her fullest possible personal and professional integration into society. Since military conflicts often lead to the loss of people’s usual family and social ties, forced isolation of victims, and provoke feelings of loneliness, abandonment, betrayal, and worthlessness, psychological rehabilitation also improves the process of social adaptation of victims. Psychological support helps victims restore their life balance and ability to integrate into society. And society, as a result, receives many times fewer adults and children with deviant, addictive and delinquent behavior. The features of psychological rehabilitation are an organic combination of certain approaches to human recovery, developed within the framework of both medical and social rehabilitation. The author of the article found that a traumatic event is characterized by suddenness, destructive force, intensity and leads to mental trauma of a person. The hierarchy of personal values is undergoing significant changes under the influence of extreme conditions of activity and the conditions that accompany it. A unique system of values is formed, in which the leading role is played by values that allow a person to survive in war, to effectively interact with other people in accordance with the requirements of the situation. In the case of returning to normal living conditions, the problem of inconsistency of the internal system of value orientations with the surrounding reality arises acutely, when a person's behavior in accordance with this system is at least inadequate both from the point of view of the socialization of the individual and from the point of view of satisfying his needs.In view of this, the article presents the stages of a psychologist's work on the psychological rehabilitation of a person who has experienced a traumatic event.
