Abstract

The practical manual highlights the theoretical and practical foundations of teaching mathematics to students in grades 5-10 with intellectual disabilities in special education institutions and in special classes of general secondary schools. It outlines the content of the school mathematics curriculum and its adaptation to the educational needs of such students. The manual explores the remedial and developmental potential of mathematics education, particularly its role in fostering logical thinking, attention, memory, and other cognitive functions. Special attention is given to teaching approaches, the use of visual aids, practice-oriented tasks, and interdisciplinary connections.
