Abstract
In recent decades, school education has undergone significant transformations and continues to develop dynamically, particularly due to the widespread integration of digital technologies into the educational process. Digital learning materials – including interactive platforms, multimedia resources and others – create new conditions for learning to read. This article generalizes the findings of researches on the use of digital texts in the educational process of primary school. It examines the psychological and pedagogical aspects of reading digital texts by primary school pupils, which must be taken into account when managing their learning and cognitive activity. The article analyzes current research results regarding the influence of structural elements of digital texts (hyperlinks, animations, interface features) on text comprehension by pupils in grades 1–4 and on the level of their cognitive load during reading. The necessity of developing methods and techniques for the effective processing of digital content by primary school pupils is emphasized. The article outlines prospects for further research, particularly in studying the long-term effects of emerging digital technologies on reading motivation, reading skills, depth of comprehension of texts of various formats, their content and topic; assessment of the quality of pupils' interaction with digital texts; the development of appropriate teaching and methodological tools. The results obtained contribute to the further exploration of current issues in digital didactics of primary education and are of practical value for teachers of grades 1–4, developers of electronic educational resources and educators working in the context of digital transformation of education.
