Abstract

In the context of ongoing military challenges, new societal demands are emerging for the training of professional specialists – agents of change – for various sectors of society, especially in the field of education, where attention to special educational needs must be ensured not from a deficit-based perspective, but through principles of accessibility, barrier-free inclusion, resource availability, social trust, support, and mutual assistance. In this context, the professional training of third-level applicants in the speciality А6 Special Education (by specialisations) at the Mykola Yarmachenko Institute of Special Pedagogy and Psychology of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine takes into account the current recommendations of the developed standards, updates its educational programmes, and increases the importance of social cohesion and social responsibility. Purpose: to substantiate and disclose the content of the draft educational and scientific program "Special Education" for professional training of applicants for the third level of education, taking into account monitoring by postgraduate students. Methods: analysis, synthesis, classification, generalisation of psychological and pedagogical literature to clarify the essence of concepts, substantiation of their content; analysis of regulatory documents, surveys, observations, generalisation, conclusions. Results. The justification, specifics of software updating, the role of conceptual principles, theoretical and methodological aspects, scientific results of fundamental research of the Institute in the field of special and inclusive pedagogy, which was taken into account when developing mandatory and elective disciplines of the program, are highlighted. Conclusions. Taking into account the specifics of special educational needs, the range of meanings, opportunities, knowledge, resources, technologies, etc. in the context of special, inclusive education and in the social life of communities has been expanded, and the adaptive, motivated potential of third-level professional training of applicants has been revealed, which will be used in the changed conditions of social challenges. The mission of the scientific institution providing training of the third level of education as a conductor of advanced ideas, an information resource, a factor of modern changes in the social environment, application of the best world practices of education development in society, improvement of the effectiveness of the application of the principles of continuous education is rethought.
