Abstract

The thesis considers special psychology as a field of psychological science and practice that is currently developing intensively. It is emphasized that the humanitarian paradigm, in the center of which is a person, suggests paying attention not to the study of mental disorders and diseases, but to the resources and potential of the individual, his or her positive functioning.
