Abstract

The textbook elucidates the socio-psychological nature of the migration phenomenon, highlighting the most significant issues related to migratory behavior in the contemporary globalized world. It details the determinants influencing individuals’ decisions in favor of migration, as well as the socio-psychological mechanisms underlying migrants’ adaptation and acculturation in host countries. Migration processes are analyzed from the perspectives of both the emigration of Ukrainians abroad and the trends and prospects of immigration of foreign nationals to Ukraine. In addition, the textbook examines the challenges of internal migration in present-day Ukraine, shaped by a variety of factors ranging from intensified urbanization to the ongoing conflict in Donbas. Special attention is devoted to the specifics of psychological assistance for individuals experiencing forced or irregular migration, as well as to the main approaches and directions in counseling work with labor migrants, internally displaced persons, and their families and children. The textbook is intended for students of higher education institutions majoring in Psychology and their instructors. It may also be utilized in the training of students in other specialties within the field of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Furthermore, it will be of practical value to practicing psychologists, social sector professionals, law enforcement personnel, and researchers.
