Abstract
The article presents the results of a survey of students in grades 9-11 (1,875 respondents) as participants in the educational process regarding the use of the information and digital environment of a secondary school. The aim of the study is to determine the readiness of students to use the information and digital environment of a secondary school; to identify the needs and challenges faced by students when using the environment; to find out how students assess their skills in themselves learning during distance education. It has been found that for the implementation of blended and distance learning, secondary schools use the two most common information and communication services - Google Classroom (66.1 %) and Zoom (55.1 %). It has been determined that high school students communicate with teachers mainly through Viber (85.2 %), and use Telegram (90.1 %) to communicate with classmates. It has been found that the use of digital tools (games, tests, quizzes, work in virtual laboratories) is quite common during classes, but there is a need for further integration and accessibility of such resources. It has been found that 80.8 % of high school students study themselves in the distance learning format, while 26.2 % of respondents are engaged in additional tutoring, and 14.4 % are assisted by parents. It is noted that, according to the majority of students, the critical aspects of improving the information and digital environment of a secondary school are updating computer equipment, providing access to Wi-Fi for all participants in the educational process, changing the communication service with teachers from Viber to Telegram, providing students with the opportunity to use tablets or laptops during classes, using interactive digital tools during lessons, and switching to electronic textbooks.
