Abstract
The need for a systematic analysis and the construction of a futuristic vision of the Ukrainian textbook – one that is capable not only of reflecting the present, but also of modeling the educational future – has been emphasized. The natural transformation of the textbook as a socio-cultural phenomenon within the framework of a new educational paradigm, and as a guide to the world of knowledge, experience, values, and self-realization, has been traced. The futuristic – forward-looking – outlines of the Ukrainian textbook and its didactic and methodological potential are explored, particularly in the context of the development of students’ giftedness. The conceptual foundations of the Ukrainian textbook of the future are considered as an important component of implementing the competency-based approach in education – an approach that ensures the formation and development of cross-cutting skills and key competencies, extends far beyond the boundaries of a classical educational tool, and functions as a multi-level educational platform for personal growth, capable of integrating innovative approaches not only in didactics, pedagogy, and psychology, but also in other scientific fields. The didactic principles and approaches to the construction and definition of the textbook’s functions – key to understanding its future – are highlighted. The likely directions of the transformation of the textbook of the future are forecasted, as are the paths of evolution in working with the textbook as a method of teaching, educating, and developing future generations.
