Abstract
The article considers the problem of developing PhD students’ research competence while studying the discipline “Methodology and techniques of scientific pedagogical research”. Attention was focused on the issue connected with the theoretical and practical preparation of PhD students to the development and implementation of the program and tools for conducting scientific and pedagogical research. A complex of theoretical and empirical methods was used, including the analysis of scientific sources, pedagogical observation, and questionnaires. The proposed pedagogical technology provided systematic mastery of the methodology of scientific research, allows future doctors of philosophy to gradually form the ability to apply theoretical and empirical methods of scientific research, analyze and interpret the results obtained, as well as acquire skills in quantitative and qualitative processing of the obtained data, and formalize the results of scientific research. That contributes to improving the quality of scientific works of postgraduate students. The developed pedagogical technology included three stages. Each stage consisted of three steps. The first stage of the proposed technology was theoretical. Its goal was to provide conditions for a thorough mastery of knowledge of the topic by postgraduate students, to form the ability to explain, interpret, characterize concepts. The second stage involved the formation of the abilities of postgraduate students to apply theoretical knowledge in practice, to use the material in familiar and new situations. The third stage aimed to provide postgraduate students with experience in evaluating the results of scientific research, as well as performing certain procedures of pedagogical research.The practical significance of the research lies in the possibility of applying the developed technology of gradual mastering of competencies in the field of methodology and methods of conducting pedagogical research to increase the level of training of scientists, guaranteed achievement of educational goals, taking into account the individual characteristics of each candidate for the Doctor of Philosophy degree. The further research could be related to the development of a pedagogical system for the formation of research competence of postgraduate students.
