Abstract
The article presents the potential of distance education for the professional training of students majoring in 101 “Ecology” and 183 “Environmental Protection Technologies” using the case of the National Transport University. The study analyzes the possibilities of using various methods, approaches, and tools for teaching disciplines related to the processing of environmental information in a blended learning environment. It is shown that distance learning platforms such as Moodle are very convenient for both students and instructors, serving not only as a means of learning but also for assessment purposes. At the same time, the article argues against the complete transition to distance learning in the professional training of future specialists in environmental protection and conservation, since distance platforms cannot fully provide the necessary conditions for hands-on training and professional development of students. For an effective transition to distance learning, a high level of motivation among both students and teaching staff is required, as well as strong teamwork. Additionally, further research is needed on the specifics of implementing and applying distance education, particularly in a blended format, taking into account the specific characteristics of educational institutions, local educational traditions, and other contextual factors.
