Abstract
The problem of clearly defining and organizing the categorical and terminological apparatus of pedagogical science, which often needs to be more developed and, in some directions, unformed, remains relevant. In particular, this applies to research in implementing digital technologies in education. Ignoring this problem can lead to arbitrary interpretation of phenomena and processes and loss of clarity and completeness, which will complicate the implementation of educational innovations and may negatively affect practical education. Recognized scientific sources, such as dictionaries and encyclopedias (Online Etymology Dictionary, Cambridge Dictionary, Merriam-Webster Dictionary, Encyclopaedia of Higher Education), are the basis for developing a standard conceptual apparatus. Analysis of the latest research and publications shows the relevance of encyclopedic knowledge in scientific circles. In the field of education, the encyclopedic approach has a long history and contributes to the formation of a holistic picture of the world, which develops students' ability to analyze and synthesize information. Recent research also emphasizes the importance of evaluating the quality of information in electronic encyclopedias and analyzes the challenges associated with using resources such as online encyclopedias. The article contains an analytical review of publications on using electronic (online, web) encyclopedias as automated information systems for accumulating information from various fields of knowledge and providing convenient access to them. The risks of using Wikipedia and some aspects of academic integrity are critically discussed. The project' Ukrainian electronic encyclopedia of education' is a significant initiative that aims to support and develop scientific and educational terminology in pedagogy and psychology. The development and implementation of such information systems have a huge potential for increasing the efficiency of scientific research and knowledge exchange.
